Lon Kruger is in his first year as the head coach at Oklahoma Sooners, but long before then, he was a player and coach at Kansas State Wildcats.
Kruger, whose Sooners will host the 18th-ranked Wildcats on Saturday, played for K-State in the early 1970s and then coached there from 1986-90, taking them to the NCAA Tournament in each of his four years.
Oklahoma got off to a fast start, winning nine of its first 10 games. But the Sooners have since lost four of five, including three straight. They'll be up against a Wildcats team hoping to avoid a second straight 1-3 start to Big 12 play.

SBG Global Sportsbook currently have the Wildcats listed as 3-point favorites versus the Sooners.
Kansas State Wildcats (12-3): Second-half turnovers doomed Kansas State in its 75-73 loss to No. 4 Baylor on Tuesday. The Wildcats finished with a season-high 20 turnovers, including four by freshman point guard Angel Rodriguez, who was publicly criticized by head coach Frank Martin afterward. Rodriguez committed turnovers on consecutive possessions late as the Bears regained the lead and held on to win. K-State has won two out of the last three in Norman, including victories in 2008 and 2010. However, the Wildcats have played just two true road games this year — a win and a loss.
Oklahoma Sooners (10-5): Oklahoma has struggled offensively during its three-game losing streak, scoring 65 points or less in each game. The Sooners shot just 32 percent in Monday's 72-65 loss at Oklahoma State, and if not for Carl Blair and Romero Osby — who combined for 38 points and 20 rebounds — the Sooners might have been on the wrong end of yet another blowout loss. Oklahoma is 7-1 at home this year, and Kruger is 2-1 all-time against his alma mater. The Sooners have won 10 of 16 games against K-State since the Big 12's inception.
1. Oklahoma hasn’t won three straight against the Wildcats in Norman since winning five straight from 1952-56.
2. Osby is second in the Big 12 with five double-doubles.
3. Only Baylor and West Virginia have scored more than 70 points against Kansas State this year.
BASKETBALL PREDICTION: Wildcats 70, Sooners 64.
