Kansas State Wildcats Host Oklahoma Sooners in NCAA Hoops Betting

by Joe Rodriguez
The Oklahoma Sooners coach Lon Kruger will make his first visit to Bramlage Coliseum in more than two decades when the Sooners take on No. 24 Kansas State Wildcats.
Kruger played at Kansas State in the early 1970s before later taking over as coach from 1986-90. His final game at Bramlage was an 80-57 victory over Nebraska on March 3, 1990.
Kruger, in his first year with Oklahoma, is hoping his Sooners can turn in a performance similar to the last one against the Wildcats. Oklahoma defeated Kansas State 82-73 on Jan. 14 in Norman. Since that loss, the Wildcats have won three straight.

Justbet Sportsbook currently have the Wildcats listed as 11½-point favorites versus the Sooners.
Oklahoma Sooners (12-7): The Sooners have lost all four of their true road games this season - including three in Big 12 play. Their first conference road loss came at Missouri 87-49. Since then, Oklahoma has been a bit more competitive, losing by seven and six at Oklahoma State and Texas A&M, respectively. Perhaps Kruger's familiarity with Kansas State can serve as a benefit, much like it did in the first meeting. Also, Oklahoma has enjoyed recent success at Bramlage, winning three of the last five overall.
Kansas State Wildcats (15-4): There is a good chance that Oklahoma will see a completely different Wildcats team than the last time they met. Not in terms of personnel, but in terms of attitude and effort. Coach Frank Martin wasn't pleased with the way Kansas State competed in the previous meeting, and the loss - which dropped them to 1-3 in Big 12 play - could have sent the Wildcats spiraling. However, Kansas State has since won three straight by four or more, including two on the road. Rodney McGruder has been a big reason why, compiling 60 points and 20 rebounds during the three-game stretch that has helped the Wildcats move into fourth in the conference standings.
1. Kansas State scored a season-high 27 points off turnovers in its 69-47 victory at Texas Tech on Wednesday.
2. Romero Osby, Oklahoma’s junior forward, has scored 15 or more in each of the last five games. His six double-doubles rank him second in the Big 12.
3. Kruger had his jersey retired by Kansas State in 2006.
BASKETBALL PREDICTION: Wildcats 73, Sooners 66.
